Isaiah Thomas is returning to the NBA. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Charlotte Hornets are signing Thomas to a 10-day deal.
Thomas actually spent time on the Lakers and Mavericks this season. He signed 10-day contracts with both clubs.
After his contract with the Mavericks expired, Thomas waited a few weeks to see if he could land on another NBA team. Unfortunately for the two-time All-Star, he had to sign a deal with the Grand Rapids Gold of the G-League.
Instead of mailing it in, Thomas went to the G-League with a killer mindset. In three appearances with the Grand Rapids Gold, he averaged 41 points per game.
Now, Thomas will get to join a team that is competing for a playoff spot. Right now, the Hornets are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference.

It’s unclear what Thomas’ role in Charlotte will be. At the very least, he should be given a chance to come off the bench and give James Borrego’s second unit a boost on offense.
Prior to suffering a serious hip injury, Thomas was an elite scorer for the Boston Celtics. He averaged 28.9 points per game during the 2016-17 season.
We’ll see if Thomas can make an impact for the Hornets during the final stretch of the regular season.
