Earlier this week, rumors emerged about a possible trade involving New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley.
Following a terrific rookie season, the former Penn State standout has struggled to stay healthy. Following his mediocre production over the past few seasons, one former NFL player thinks he should want to be traded.
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant thinks a change of scenery could do Saquon some good.
“Honestly if I’m Saquon Barkley hearing trade rumors surrounding my name I’ll be up for it,” Bryant said early this morning. “I can see you being very dominant for one of those west coast teams… 90% of the time the uncomfortable change turns out to be positive whenever you embrace it.”

Unfortunately for Saquon, a trade doesn’t seem likely. Earlier this week, NFL insider Ian Rapoport made it clear he doesn’t believe Barkley will play elsewhere in 2022.
“To me, it doesn’t seem realistic,” he said on NFL Now. “He did not have a great year last year. He was banged up. He has a fully-guaranteed salary that somebody would have to pick up. If you’re the Giants, if you’re going to pay even a little bit of the salary, you might as well see if that player can be really good for you.
“I don’t see Saquon Barkley being traded. To me, the most likely scenario is playing it out and having a decision at the end of next season.”
