Shooting for the 2022 edition of the iconic magazine is underway. Perhaps we’ll see another notable athlete or two in this year’s issue.
Years ago, tennis star Maria Sharapova joined the list of notable athletes to pose for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
The Russia native posed for the issue in 2006, during the peak of her tennis career. Sharapova had won Wimbledon in 2004, before going on to win the US Open in 2006, the Australian Open in 2008 and the French Open in 2012 and ’14.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit also released a behind-the-scenes look at her photoshoot with the iconic magazine.
As previously mentioned, several notable athletes, including Alex Morgan, Genie Bouchard, Lindsey Vonn, Paige Spiranac and Danica Patrick, among others, have all posed for the issue.
